Bruny Island Neck Guide
Where Eagles Dare: Witness the Spectacle of The Neck Guide
Experience the breathtaking beauty of the Bruny Island Neck, a narrow isthmus connecting the north and south sections of Bruny Island. This iconic landmark offers stunning 360-degree views of Adventure Bay, Cloudy Bay, and the surrounding coastline. It's a must-see destination for nature lovers and photographers seeking unforgettable vistas. The Neck is a significant geological feature formed by the accumulation of sand over thousands of years. It's also an important breeding ground for short-tailed shearwaters (muttonbirds), which nest in burrows along the dunes. The area holds cultural significance for the Aboriginal people of Tasmania, who have a long history of connection to the land and sea. Climb the wooden stairs to the Truganini Lookout for panoramic views of the isthmus and the surrounding bays. During the day, you can spot wildlife, including seabirds and eagles soaring overhead. At dusk, witness the incredible spectacle of thousands of short-tailed shearwaters returning to their nests after a day at sea. The Neck is also a popular spot for stargazing, offering dark skies and minimal light pollution.
